Ingredients
  1. Green moong dal – ¾ cup
  2. Onion big (chop length wise) – 2 nos.
  3. Tomato (finely chopped)– 2 nos.
  4. Green chilly– 2 nos.
  5. Ginger (finely chopped)– 1 inch piece
  6. Garlic (finely sliced) – 6 cloves
  7. Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  8. Garam masala – ½ tsp
  9. Coriander powder – 2 tsp
  10. turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  11. coriander leaves – 3 tbsp
  12. salt – to taste
  13. water – 3 cups or as required
  14. To temper
  15. Oil – 2 tbsp
  16. Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
  17. Cloves -2 nos.
  18. Cinnamon – 1 small piece

Green moong dha curry l is a healthy and tasty side dish for roti, dosa and parathas. I learned this recipe from my  MIL recently. you can make this curry with sprouted green moong dhal too which is even more healthy and nutritious. I like to have this gravy little thick but you can adjust the consistency of gravy as per your wish. I hope all will try and enjoy this healthy recipe soon!!!

 

Preparation:

  1. Wash and soak green moong dal for 5 hours.

2. Heat a pressure cooker with 2 tbsp of oil and temper with items given under ‘ To Temper’.

Then add ginger, garlic & green chilli slits and fry until raw smell goes off. Now add onion and sauté till transparent.

3. Once done, add tomato and sauté till soften. Then add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder & garam masala into it and cook until mixture oozes out oil. At last add coriander leaves and mix well.

4. Add drained green moong dal, required salt & enough water into it and stir well.

Now close the lid and pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles.

5. Healthy green moong dal curry is ready to be served for dosa, roti, parathas.

Note :

  • 1 cup  is equal to 250 ml
  • After soaking green moong dhal will be double in size(Soak dhal accordingly)
